Attention burger lovers of MWSU, I have found the king of all burger joints in town.
Willie’s Place serves wacky burgers, but they always nail the basics: a perfectly grilled patty on a nicely toasted bun.
The small restaurant has a down-home southern feel. When I walked in, it seemed as if I stepped into a small-town burger joint where the country accents are as ingrained in the staff as their hospitality. Everyone in there, staff or customer, was very welcoming.
The walls are lined with license plates from all over the U.S. and pictures of classic cars and fascinating memorabilia.
After looking around the restaurant, I got a menu and ordered at the cash register. I went with the grilled cheese cheeseburger, fries and a coke. A classic American meal with one cheesy twist.
Instead of buns, this beautiful burger is perfectly nestled between two grilled cheese sandwiches. That’s right, two grilled cheese sandwiches. Cheese oozed out on every bite, making the perfect combination of tastes for your taste buds. On top of all this, the burger patty was fresh and grilled to perfection—a must for any decent burger.
This was, hands down, the best burger I have ever eaten in Wichita Falls.
As if the burger wasn’t enough, they give you a generous basket of fries. But even after I was stuffed, I continued eating because the food was just that good.
My friend ordered the Buffalo Bill Burger. It was everything you’d want in a burger, plus a spicy sauce that delivers flavor and kick.
For those who love spicy food and a bit of a challenge, Willie’s Place has the perfect burger: The Psycho Burger.
This consists of double meat, jalapeños, habanero, ghost chilies, ghost sauce, mustard, lettuce, tomato and onions. Basically a bunch of spicy things topped with two meat patties. I’m no lawyer, but Willie may need to have customers start signing waivers before they can order this fireball on a plate.
This restaurant was definitely a diamond in the rough. It’s small, but in this case small is a good thing. Their dining area was spotless, too.
Willie’s Place also has a drive-up window for pick-up orders. I will definitely be ordering from here at least once a week if I don’t have time to dine in.
I would have paid more considering how good the food was, but my bill came out to only $9.75, making this a great place for college students to stuff themselves for relatively cheap.

They have the best cobbler around too. They make a different special kind daily and sell full trays around holidays.
