Criminal Justice Graduate Program Now Available for Students from MWSU Campus Watch on Vimeo.
The criminal justice department may be reaping some big benefits as administration works to increase enrollment around campus.
The lack of students enrolling on campus is a big problem. One way to persuade students to choose this university is give them a reason to stay. The criminal justice department has incorporated a new graduate program.
Nathan Moran, Chairman of Criminal Justice, said, “It will allow our undergraduate students an avenue to get an education here at Midwestern State University rather than having to go to one of our competitors.”
In order to receive the masters degree in administration of justice, students are required to complete 21 hours of credits. Each course is taken online rather than the classroom.
The third largest department on campus is hoping that this new program will get students to attend this university and continue to increase the number of students in the department.
Sophomore Cason Boaz says he’s not sure what the future has in store for him, but he is grateful that he has the option to stay here if he chooses.
“When I first got into it I wanted to see if I could get on the road. I kind of wanted to check out being a state trooper maybe. I hadn’t really thought too much about it, but I’m starting to kind of head that direction maybe I’ll go for my masters here.” Boaz said.
Moran says faculty are in the process of marketing the program by reaching out via social networks, e–mailing prospective students, and handing out flyers in the classroom. The faculty is also marketing to former alumni who have not yet received a masters, to consider MSU their school of choice.
The university is already known for getting the best bang for your buck while you attend. Incorporating new ways to keep students enrolled here will hopefully help the enrollment numbers climb.
