Making McCoy a Bigger Place from MWSU Campus Watch on Vimeo.
The McCoy Engineering hall is undergoing a 5,000 square-foot addition for its students. The construction process began in the Spring semester of 2013.
Two years ago, an expansion plan was put into place and signed off by Provost Lisa White and President Jesse Rogers. The plan is based on the increasing amount of students choosing to major in engineering.
“We anticipated we needed to have an engineering expansion plan. If fact, based on the enrollment numbers, we were right.” said Sheldon Wang, Chairman of Engineering.
Members of the Wichita Falls Community donated towards the improvements which include two new faculty offices, an energy and electronics lab, and one large classroom with 75 seats.
“We have some donations from Gene McCoy, Frank Stevens, and the Bolin families and other people in the community.” Wang said.
The ongoing construction has yet to intrude with the functioning part of McCoy where students have class.
“This construction has very minimal impact to our current operation, and somehow they designed a procedure behind closed doors and minimum impact to the environment.” said Wang.
The expansion plan is scheduled to be completed by the end of Spring 2014. Reporting for Campus Watch, I’m Skyler Warrick.
