On Feb. 28, the University Programming Board (UPB) hosted a craft night in the Legacy MPR for students to make their own crafts, limited only by their imagination.
There were many materials students could use to make their crafts, including blank CDs, small wooden tags, small wooden crescent moons, acrylic paint, markers and slime-making ingredients.
Students appeared quite creative while making their crafts; some decorated CDs with stickers while others made slime for them to play with.
UPB Co-Director Taylor Clark explained that the organization had accumulated many different craft supplies, helping to inspire the event.
“We wanted to get rid of some of that,” Clark said. “Midterms are coming up, so I feel like doing crafts is like soothing if you are stressed out.”
Since class midterms are around the corner, UPB wanted to provide crafts and other supplies to help students decompress before or after their tests.
Clark hoped that students would not only feel relaxed by the event, but they would be able to help build their community through the event.
“A lot of people brought their friends,” Clark stated.
UPB craft night was all about getting a sense of community and being able to relax either by yourself or with other people you enjoy being with. It was all about making something as a stress reliever, taking the time to calm down, doing something soothing and taking a break.
