As temperatures increase, students have found a way to cool off. Monday the wellness center opened its pool for the spring and summer. Students gathered at the pool to relax and have fun.
Students say they come to hang out with friends, but also to soak up some sun, play sand volleyball and even shoot some hoops in the pool.
Though Wichita Falls continues to be in a drought the aquatics area plans to remain open. Well water is hauled to the pool and chemicals are added to extend the use of water and decrease evaporation.
“Right now we just stay open during the warmer months, which today I think it’s suppose to be around 90 degrees. It’s getting hot really fast this year it seems like but it’s perfect for the pool. As you can hear in the background students are having fun and that’s what we like to see,” Joey Greenwood, director of wellness said.
The aquatics center will open 1-7 pm daily. Free entrance for students with a valid mustangs ID and $5 for others. Visit the pool to start your summer with a splash!
