The Chi Omega sorority held a basketball tournament last Saturday at the Wellness Center as part of an ongoing charity event, Wish Week.
“This is our basketball tournament, it’s a three on three basketball tournament that we do every year. We call it Swishes for Wishes; so it raises money for our philanthropy which is Make-a-Wish. They grant wishes for children that have had life threatening illnesses and things like that,” President of Chi Omega Kelsie Allen said.
Make-a-Wish is a foundation where people raise money to help terminally ill kids. Last year, Chi Omega raised at least $9,500 for Make-a-Wish. The foundation helps kids all over the world.
“We just got trained in Make-a-Wish training because there’s so many people in Wichita Falls that have wishes that want to be granted, but nobody’s been able to grant them. So right now our chapter is working on three wishes,” Philanthropy Chair of Chi Omega Kimberly Sheehan said.
With at least 200 people divided into 46 teams, this tournament was Wish Week’s biggest turnout ever.
