With his tenure as president coming to an end, University President Jesse Rogers reflects on some of his first memories about the Fantasy of Lights.
“When I moved here in 1967, as a young professor in chemistry, I had a small daughter and we actually went over to the burns home, several nights to see the Fantasy of Lights when it was in Mrs. Burns lot,” Rogers says.
Rogers went on to explain how moving the Fantasy of Lights to MSU allowed it to expand.
“It was cute when Mrs. Burns had it but the addition of a lot of the displays have been added since we brought it to campus,” Rogers says.
Rogers says his favorite part has always been Humpty Dumpty because of the memories he shares with his daughter and now his granddaughter.
“I can remember Humpty Dumpty in 1967 when it was in the burns lot, so we have some original pieces,” Rogers says.
Rogers says he intends to enjoy Fantasy of Lights well after he’s done with MSU.
