The fourth annual B Good 2 U Wellness Fair is now schedule to be held in the Clark Student Center Comanche Suites instead of Sunwatcher Plaza due to heavy rain according to Vikki Chaviers, licensed professional counselor at the Counseling Center.
Chaviers said the events will still run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, and music and food will be available to all students.
Chaviers said the main purpose of the B Good 2 U Wellness Fair is to give students information on ways to increase their wellness, especially around times of stressful tests and final papers.
“We want to help educate students about these four components – physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellness,” Chaviers said.
Chaviers said last year’s fair was successful, with an large number of student turnout—more than 300 students according to Chaviers.
“Last year, we ordered 200 T-shirts and students who fill out a form letting us know what they have learned got a shirt,” Chaviers said. “We have realized that we had more than 200 forms and that’s why I would say it was successful, because we exceeded our target.”
Chaivers said the wellness Fair will focus on the attitudes of greatness and thanksgiving, so students are encouraged to bring canned goods to be donated to the needy. Students who donate will be entered in a drawing for a gift card.
Eight departments are involved in the fair: the Counseling Center; Vinson Health Center; the police department; Disability Support Services; the Housing Department and Residence Life; Recreational Sports and the Wellness Center; Student Development; the University Programming Board; and the graduate counseling and psychology departments. Chaviers said these groups will provide a well-rounded approach to wellness.
