The Caribfest celebrated 14 years with a launch to kickoff the festivals Sept. 20, and two new faces were in charge.
“Every year the positions are filled by different persons in the organization,” Rhea Durand, senior in chemistry, says. “This year just happen to be our chance to do it.”
Organizing this type of event takes months to prepare for.
“So technically we started the process of Caribfest in January 2014,” Durand says. “So it’s been quite sometime that we been planing and organizing Caribfest for this year.”
The participants come out and work hard to make the show a success.
“All of the models are actually part of the Caribbean students organization so they all volunteered their time to step up and help make the show a success,” Clynt George, senior in math, says.
A select group of ladies area competing to be this year’s queen of Caribfest at an event Oct. 1.
George says. “We have five ladies vying for the title and should be a very good show because they are all very talented.”
Anyone is welcomed to come and enjoy what the Caribfest has to offer.
“It’s not limited to Wichita Falls,” Durand says. “We are encouraging anybody that gets the word of Caribfest to come on out and enjoy it.”
