Midwestern students to move to Mustang Village from MWSU Campus Watch on Vimeo.
Changes in rules regarding on-campus residence halls and apartments are continuing to leave students questioning their fall living arrangements. Campus officials are turning to an apartment complex called Mustang Village, formerly known as the Grove, which is also filling up quickly.
“So we originally started out with 115 sub-leased beds at Mustang Village, but we changed that number and we were able to sub-lease another 100 for a total of 215 beds at Mustang Village will be rented by University housing and then rented back to our students. Of those 215, I think all of those are full except two or three individual spots and those will be full as soon as we finish the room selection process,” Michael Mills, director of housing and dining services, said.
Students aren’t the only ones who can live at Mustang Village, the apartments are available to the community as well. One student talks about how she feels about moving from Killingsworth to the apartment complex and some problems that she may face.
“Initially when I found out that I had to live in Mustang Village, I was upset. I understand that they are sorting by classification, like freshmen obviously get the dorms, then juniors get to pick, then sophomore then freshmen. I understand that but it frustrated me because I don’t own a vehicle,” Christina Sudell, a freshman in business, said.
Although Mustang Village is off campus, the cost is cheaper at $2,400. The bill will be added to the student’s account and treated as on campus housing.
