A sophomore in political science, Rebecca Stogner, is putting her politics into action as she prepares to be the next Student Government Association president. Stogner says she has always had a passion for the law and decided what better way than to get involved on campus. For Stogner this was an opportunity to meet new individuals and network, as well as prepare for her future.
About the desire to join Stogner says, “From the beginning I wanted to be SGA president, whenever I walked on campus. The first thing I did was try to get involved in student government. I have enjoyed student council type things in high school and that was something I was familiar with when I came into college. Knowing the career I wanted to do, I knew this would be a really good opportunity for me to get different aspects of government.”
Stogner, who ran unopposed says none of this would have been possible without the support of her parents, and her sisters.
“I have a lot of support from my sorority, I’m in Alpha Phi, so a lot of my sisters are really pushing me to become a leader and become involved in other organizations besides your sorority,” Stogner says.
The elections concluded the week following Easter Break, and Stogner says she is ready to begin.
