For one student, attending the opening reception at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art was a great educational experience. Art major, Shanice Glover, went to the event to expand her knowledge and interest in art.
Glover said, her art history teacher has been talking about the event for a long time and that she wanted to see the work that was being presented.
This event gave three artists a chance to showcase their work at the WFMA. Marla Ziegler, one of the artists being displayed, gave a speech about how she created her work.
Ziegler said, the work being presented was made about a year ago and she produced everything in a two car garage. “I roll out slabs on a roller, some of you may be ceramics people, then I put them into molds.” Ziegler also said.
Throughout the event, Shanice said that one piece in particular stood out to her the most.
“It’s very modern and has more than one piece to it, I don’t know the name of it, but I did like it.” Glover said.
The exhibits from all three artists will be on display at the WFMA until May 31.
