In an effort to help students shed holiday pounds, the wellness center his hosting Holiday Trimmings, an educational program and competition.
“It’s a weight loss competition that we’re having for all students, faculty and staff,” Joey Greenwood, director of recreational sports and the wellness center, said. “Coordinated through the wellness center, we’re going to have different events throughout the competition, just to talk about weightloss, nutrition and those types of things.”
The program is free to all students, faculty and staff and lasts through April.
“We’ll have an overall male and female winner and each of those individuals will receive a $100 gift card,” Greenwoood said.
Marisol Reyes, a freshman in criminal justice, said she thought the program would help people establish a healthy lifestyle after indulging over the holidays.
“I have heard about the program. It’s a good idea because it gives that healthy lifestyle that people strive for in the beginning of the year,” Reyes said.
