“Sigma Kappa and Kappa Alpha. Get up here y’all.”
Homecoming kicked off with one of the biggest events, the lip-sync competition, Oct. 14.
About 400 students packed a full house at Akin Auditorium.
While seven groups performed, some of them, didn’t have a lot of time to practice.
“Probably like two to three hours a day. For how long? For, uh, tow days,” Kendra Unruh, a freshman in theater, said.
Various organizations including the Radiology Club, the cheerleaders and various Greek organizations performed country style music in the spirit of the Wild wWest theme.
For some co-ed groups, the girls stepped up and took charage.
“Yes, but it was a good in charge, because we didn’t know what we were doing,” Chad Caldwell, a junior in respiratory therapy, said.
After all the performances were done, the judges ranked the groups based on song choice, choreography and all around performance.
The three finalists were the cheerleaders, Sigma Kappa and Kappa Alpha, and the combined group of Kappa Delta Chi, Alpha Kappa Alpha and Sigma Lambda Alpha.
The finalists performed at the bonfire Oct. 17, and Oct. 19 at the football game, it was announced that the cheerleaders took first place.
