Another chapter of MSU tradition was written on Saturday, as this year’s homecoming celebrations came to a close with the Homecoming football game against West Alabama University and the presentation of the 2013 homecoming court. The football players gave their fans something to cheer about as they got off to an early lead going-up 28 points to 7 by the end of the first half. But come halftime the audience was awaiting the announcement of this year’s Homecoming king and queen.
Kayla Gray and Taylor Duvall took home the crowns.
“It’s quiet an honor, here at Midwestern we like our traditions so to be apart of a tradition such as this one is really great. It was really cool to see all the school participate in all this, to see all the freshmen really get into it. it was really great,” said Duvall.
Gray said, “I just feel so, so honored. This is such an exciting time. I wan to thank everybody who voted for me, all the people who nominated me, I am just so thrilled and honored and blessed to be here. And I just want to say a big thanks to everybody,”
The football team pulled off and impressive win defeating West Alabama – the No.8 ranked team in the nation – 45 to 21, and etching Running Back Keidrick Jackson’s name in the record books in the process. Jackson became the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,596 yards, eclipsing Quarterback Daniel Polk.
