I wish I could go out and do some shopping for myself, but it’s my job so I need to be here to help customers who want to buy stuff,” Yahaya said. I guess I’m looking forward to coming over here and helping customers because I never had to work on Black Friday before, so I don’t know what that experience is. I just want to see how seeing customer face-to-face works,” Yahaya said.

Houston Pokorny, sophomore in theatre, participates in rehearsal for the theatre department’s production of Wiley and the Hairy Man. “It was very nerve-wracking because [Dement] told me we had two and a half weeks until the show and everyone else has been working for almost four weeks. I had to get my lines down, and I am mostly off book now, in a week,” Houston Pokorny, sophomore in theatre, said. “It’s been very challenging, especially coming in with everyone knowing their blocking and I felt like I was the total ‘new guy.’”

Shaunette Hildabrand had a performance Oct.16 as a one of the Artist-Lecture Series. She graduated magna cum laude from MSU in 1985. The Artist-Lecture Series was established in 1964 to bring noted lecturers and quality programs in the performing arts to the MSU campus and the Wichita Falls community.

Each spring the Counseling Center partners with the graduate psychology and counseling programs to provide this screening. Hollis Kauffman, graduate student in counseling, participates in Empty Bowls Ceramic Exhibit Reception at the Wichita Falls Museum of Arts. Empty Bowls is a community-wide program to help the local Food Bank raise as much money as possible for the growing hunger issue in Wichita Falls. This event is part of an international program that has raised millions of dollars for the battle against hunger and starvation. Kauffman said, "Seeing me our community comes together is such a wordy cost, and it is really inspiring."

As part of the Dillard College Executive in Residence and Lalani Center Distinguished Speaker program, Steve Felice of Dell Computer came to MSU April 17. Felice serves ad president and chief commercial officer for Dell, leading the sales and marketing teams. Before his current role, he was senior vice president and president of the Consumer, Small and Medium Business group, and has led operations for Dell in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region. Felice joined Dell in 1999 from DecisionOne Corp, where he was chief executive officer and president. He has also worked with Bell Atlantic and Shell Oil. He is on the board of directors for the U.S.-China Business Council, and is a member of the Singapore Economic Development Board.
