The Caribbean Students Organization will present it’s annual cultural showcase, “Expressions – Soca Mass Rhythm,” April 10 at 7 p.m. in Akin Auditorium.
“Expressions is a great cultural event which showcases the Caribbean culture,” said David Joseph, marketing senior and member of the Caribbean Students Organization.
Joseph said that people are still talking about last year’s Expressions.
“Last year Expressions was awesome,” Joseph said. “But we intend to make Expressions 2015 even better.”
On Friday attendees will get the opportunity to listen to the sounds of steel pan music, watch Caribbean folklore, and enjoy talents of the Caribbean students.
Joseph said soca is a mixture of calypso music and soul that originated in Trinidad and Tobago. Calypso is smoother and soca is where the high tempo beat comes from.
