Student Government Association officials released the names of the winners of the Homecoming Court Monday.
JUNIOR PRINCE: Tyler Garcia, Kappa Alpha
JUNIOR PRINCESS: Kylie Goble, Chi Omega
SOPHOMORE DUKE: Tyler Browning, SAE
SOPHOMORE DUCHESS: Hailey Morris, Chi Omega
FRESHMAN LORD: Colton Shank, Kappa Sigma
FRESHMAN LADY: Paige Gore, cheerleader
While only 7 percent of the students are members of the Greek community, all but one of the winners was active in Greek life on campus. However, students still said the entire campus is actively engaged in Homecoming activities.
- Ryan Hyman, sports and leisure studies senior, said, “I didn’t really know anything about the Homecoming court so it made it difficult for me to be engaged in it.”
- Naomi Alexander, athletic training junior, said, “Greek life has the biggest interaction with Homecoming, but there are still some people/organizations outside of Greek life that are involved.”
- Tristan Shearman, geosciences freshman, said, “Yes. People outside of Greek life are involved because it is still their campus too. They like to know what is going on.”
- Kevin Fisher, business management sophomore, said, “Students outside of Greek life are involved in the Homecoming court. There are lots of activities going on during this time and individuals enjoy participating in these events.”
- Kaitlynn Watterson, nursing junior, said, “Being apart of Alpha Phi I feel like Homecoming court is not promoted as much for the rest of the university. It’s hard for people to vote if you are not involved in Greek life as you don’t really have a full idea of what is going on.”
- Hayley Dambold, business junior, said, “Being an athlete, most of us are not involved in Homecoming court but we still try to participate in as many Homecoming activities as possible to stay involved in campus life.”
The Homecoming king and queen will be announced at halftime at Saturday’s football game.
