Every year, the Redwine Honors program awards five presidential scholarships to incoming freshman students that have achieved success in high school. At Mustang’s Rally, nursing major Nicole Tatsch from Harper, Texas received hers.
“It is a really big deal for me cause I mean just—it was a surprise,” Tatsch said. director of the Honors Program Steve Garrison and President Stacia Haynie were both there to present Tatsch with the award. As Garrison presented the award, he shared that Tatsch wants to be a nurse because she wants to help people.
“I really wanna help people. I’ve always had that mentality and I just didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Tatsch said. “But recently I’ve been looking into nursing and it seems like the perfect fit.”
Tatsch chose the program to make sure that she would get the most of her college experience.
“I wanted to make sure that everything I was getting, I wouldn’t get bored with my classes for lack of better words. I was just kinda excited and I thought it would be a fun program,” Tatsch said. “I’m a big person on learning and making sure I’m prepared for my life.”
In addition to the Honor’s program, Tatsch is looking to get involved in other ways on campus.
“I am thinking about doing intramural volleyball and then I might do a sorority, but I’m not sure yet. I want to make sure I have enough time for my education,” Tatsch said.
Tatsch is looking forward to joining MSU in the fall and to begin her college journey.
“I’m really excited to be here. I love the campus. It’s gorgeous. And it will be small and perfect.”
