Mark Ryal and Mustangs’ softball have parted ways
Kyle Williams, MSU Texas athletic director, announced Tuesday, June 1 that MSU has parted ways with head softball coach Mark Ryal after five seasons in which he posted a record of 74-115.
After winning 11 of their first 14 games, the Mustangs finished the 2021 season 15-27, which was an improvement over the COVID-19 shortened 2019 season which saw Ryal’s team post a record of 3-19. Ryal’s lone winning season at MSU came in 2019 when the Mustangs finished the season 22-19 and finished seventh in the Lone Star Conference.
“We appreciate Mark’s leadership over the past five seasons on and off the field. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Williams said in a statement.
The search for a new head softball coach has now begun.
