Anissa Williams, art sophomore, and Kristen Longo, art freshman, pick up trash at Adopt-A-Trail.

To pick up trash for Adopt-A-Trail, 12 students met at Hamilton Park Saturday.

Alex Nelson, environmental science senior, said she was surprised with the turnout of students at this clean-up,

“Compared to the two we have already had, this is a pretty big turnout for us.”

For three students, this wasn’t their first time. They continue to come back to help the community.

Kristen Longo, art freshman, said, “It’s a way to give back to the community without expecting to get anything in return. It’s just wholeheartedly serving the community.”

Longo also said this is her second time participating in these clean-ups.

Rowann Remie, geoscience freshman, comes back for a third time giving up three hours of her Saturday.

Remie said, giving back to the community and making a difference is what keeps her coming back.

The students work at other areas around town in addition to the Hamilton Park, it’s one of Sonasha Perera’s favorites.

“I enjoy coming to this park, Hamilton Park, and Lucy Park,” said environmental science senior, Perera “This is also my third time coming out.”

This won’t be the last time student met up for Adopt-A-Trail.

Coming together as a group four times a year, twice a semester, Nelson said, “We are set to continue until fall 2020.”
