6 p.m. Rodney Higgins Jr. has been taken off the official team roster, although he was listed there earlier today.
3 p.m. Interim Director of Athletics Kyle Williams, “The investigation is going on, and we are cooperating with wherever we need to be.” Williams said he was aware that football player Rodney Higgins had been suspended a month prior to the assault, however Williams said he would not comment on the reason behind the suspension.
2:30 p.m. Football players have been called into an “emergency team meeting” at 5:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m. Police Chief Patrick Coggins confirms that at 10:55 p.m. Sunday the department received a call about a sexual assault that had occurred in an on campus residence hall. MSU’s police crime and fire log confirms it was in Killingsworth Hall that “the suspect entered complainants room without permission and sexually assaulted her.”
1:18 p.m. Rodney Roshunn Higgins, Jr., 19-year-old freshman cornerback and physiology major, was arrested for sexual assault at 12:33 p.m. April 17. According to the MSU crime and fire log, the incident occurred in Killingsworth Hall on April 16 and was reported to police at 10:55 p.m.
“We don’t know much other than it happened in our building,” Sterling Ellison, Killingsworth Hall resident assistant, said. “We don’t know any specifics and we can’t find out or ask about it. Hall directors and RAs who know can’t say anything due to Title IX.”
