About 30 instructors signed up in advance for their students to receive extra credit for evaluating three oral or poster presentations. Students turned in about 1,000 evaluations during the day-long forum.
Stacia Miller, assistant professor of kinesiology, said, “The extra credit helps to create a buzz around campus about the event. The students who are presenting have put so much into their projects and they deserve the recognition and interest that we are able to create by providing extra credit. Beyond that we are able to expose so many students to the idea of research and creativity. The exposure that we are providing is important to our goals for undergraduate research on this campus.”
Letreanna Jackson, curriculum and assessment graduate student, said, “I wanted extra credit, just in case I needed the extra boost. Finals are coming up and I might have a bad day.”
