As the new semester nears, parking lot six south by the football practice fields has been expanded. This added 257 parking spaces for students according to Keith Lamb, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management.
When construction began on the new residence hall, 220 resident parking spots were lost, leading to the expansion of lot six south. The budget for the expansion was capped at $500,000, according to Kyle Owen, associate vice president of facilities.
According to an updated parking map released by Dan Williams, chief of police, parking lot six north by Prothro-Yeager has been changed from commuter to residential parking. Parking lot six south is now strictly commuter parking, instead of both residential and commuter parking as it was before the expansion.
Although the expansion of lot six south meant the addition of parking spaces, the basketball court that previously stood on the property was lost.
