Graphic design students from all levels will be presenting their design portfolios to promote their creativity to the community.
This will be the first time graphic design students have been able to show off their work to other students and faculty on campus.
“I wanted to give my students the skills necessary for obtaining a career in the competitive field of graphic design. Portfolio nights are very common at design conferences and other universities.” Jennifer Yucus, assistant professor of the Juanita and Ralph Harvey School of Visual Arts, said. “Students will be able to talk about their designs and meet people in the industry.”
Sixteen students will be showcasing their projects.
Yucus said, “Their work in the portfolios is from all their graphic design classes and also any client work they have had in the last couple years.”
The portfolios showcase the students’ finest work from class this semester.
“This semester graphic design students took Portfolio Design. They spent the semester revising and creating projects that highlighted their design talents. Students created their own logo and stationary and then a print and web portfolio,” Yucus said.
Yucus said the students’ portfolios will be on display in Fain Fine Arts C110, May 8 at 5 p.m. and attendees can also pick up a business card and resume from those students seeking jobs or internships. Admission is free.
