The weCONNECT Leadership Conference will take place on Feb. 21 in the Clark Student Center.
The conference is designed to help student leaders build skills that they can take back to their own organizations and campuses.
Jessica Pettitt, social justice speaker and consultant, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Those in attendance will be able to choose which courses appeal to them most in their breakout groups.
According to Kevin Bazner, assistant director of student development and orientation, the conference this year will focus on how social justice applies to college students. He said that as a university that has unity in its mission statement, it is an important topic to address.
“It’s important that we recognize the discussions that are happening in higher education about the events in Ferguson, New York and Florida,” Bazner said.
