Democratic candidate for Lt. Gov. Leticia Van de Putte made a campaign stop in Wichita Falls on Monday night and Insitutional Research Analyst Newman Wong attended the event even though he can’t vote yet.
“I cannot vote, I am not a U.S. citizen yet, but it’s good to engage. That’s what I told Velecia last night,” Wong said. “I try to be informed because the immigration process is crazy here so I’m trying to support whoever will try to simplify the process.”
Wong said Van de Putte put a lot of emphasis on education in the state.
“She was talking a lot about students, making sure there was enough funding for education,” Wong said. “A lot of funding has been taken away so she was trying to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity for quality education.”
