The Wichita Falls Museum of Art will host a free reception for four new exhibits Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m.

Mary Helen Maskill, museum public programs director, said, “MSU has not had four grand openings for exhibits on one night in a long time so the museum should have over 300 people attending.”

•  “Looking Through to the Past: Historic Photographs of Wichita Falls by Charles A. Fuhs, photo-documentarian.” Fuhs shows what Wichita Falls was before and after the 1920 oil boom in photos that had been from glass plate negatives. The negatives have now been transformed into positive plates and printed on archival paper to view.
•  “Landscape Revisited” is the next exhibit as a series of art from three Artist, Jonathan Beer, Sandra Gottlieb, and Martin Weinstein. The three New York artists share the ideas of geography and they transform it in to their own ways.
• “Quilting Together Wichita Falls” is presenting four quilts made by 143 local women, putting their biographies in the squares of the quilts. There will be all kinds of patterns and styles of quilting squares to view.
•  “Story Quilts: Personal History in the Art of Marion Coleman” exhibit is showing Coleman’s African American heritages influenced her creation on the fiber collages quilts. The quilts are already put up so students can get a sneak peek at the exhibits that will be shown.

The exhibit “Quilting Together Wichita Falls” closes Dec. 5. ‘Landscape Revisited” closes Dec. 13. “Story Quilts” along with the “Looking through to the Past: Historic Photographs of Wichita Falls” will run through Feb. 28. Since there is construction, there will be signs to guide to the west entrance to the museum.
