On their second stop of the day, Texas Attorney General and gubernatorial-hopeful Greg Abbott accompanied by rock musician Ted Nugent, campaigned Tuesday at 8th Street Coffee House.
Jen Amador, owner of 8th Street Coffee House, said she was approached to host the campaign event.
“We thought it would be great for business,” Amador said, “and it had no affiliation with politics. We are neutral.”

About 130 people, mostly older white males, made reservations for the rally, packing the coffee shop that only holds around 80 people.
Ted Nugent
Nugent opened up for Abbott for his campaign stop. His energy and fame got the crowed ready to hear from the current Texas attorney general.
“I got to Texas as soon as I could because the whole world sucks.”
“He is the man to keep Texas, Texas.”
“If you’re not having fun with me, you’re weird.”
“I don’t look at the bad and ugly as much as I look at the good. Texas is the good.”
“Abbott is a, we the people, U.S. constitutional warrior.”
“Texas is the greatest quality of life in America.”
Greg Abbott
Abbott focused on bettering the school systems, controlling the boarder and keeping Texas number one in the creation of jobs.
“I will keep Texas ranked number one in the nation for job creation.”
“I will get the water flowing again.”
“I will secure our border.”
“Make higher education more accessible and affordable.”
“My vision [for Texas] is far higher and far better than what we have heard any governor talk about before.”
“I really do have a steal spine that I will use to fight for you.”
“I want to see Texas rise up to [having] at least five or seven tier-one higher education institutions.”
“Not everyone should be forced into higher education or a four-year college. There are so many high-paying jobs across the state where either a high school degree alone or a 2-year degree program is going to work.”
Robert Driver
Driver who is a retired teacher, attended the rally to support Abbott and take the opportunity to meet Nugent.
“I already know who I’m voting for, I am just here to show support.”
“Abbott stood out the most to me because his policies reflected mine.”
John Christoff
Christoff an MSU graduate, was at 8th Street Coffee House to support Abbott and hear what he had to say on his campaign stop. Eager to get a good spot, Christoff was the first in line for the rally.
“I hope he keeps it local and keeps it simple.”
“It would be nice to see more money go to smaller schools.”
“I just want him to clarify to the people who and what he stands for.”
Casey Fletcher,junior, general studies
Fletcher, an MSU student, was excited to meet Nugent and hear what Abbott had to say.
“We need to keep Texas red, to continue what Perry is doing and hopefully drive Obama out.”
“I like Abbott because he seems so passionate about God and his work.”
MSU College Republican members came out to support and meet Abbott. They also greeted people, checked them in and handed out stickers to support Abbott’s campaign.
Annie Kleinschmidt, senior, radiology,
“I came down to help out and meet Greg Abbott.”
Jonathan Lyne, junior, economics
“I really liked his plan for Texas. He came out with a lot of ideas.”
“He also layed out his resume and put out his best cases for why he should be governor.”
“Ted Nugent was a good person to have tag along for the campaign. I think it worked perfectly for Wichita Falls. Everyone cheered and whistled for him.”
