The University Programming Board hosted its campus-wide end-of-the-week Homecoming party — Friday Night Live — Oct. 18 in the coliseum.
“It gave students something else to do after the cardboard boat race since it ends pretty early,” Mario Ramirez, activities coordinator for student and development department, said.
Guests enjoyed glow sticks, glow glasses and an abundance of cotton candy and ice cream floats.
“I love the cotton candy so that’s why I’m here,” Megan Roy, sophomore in political science, said.
Students and faculty gathered in the Don Flatt gym with glow sticks in hand to dance to rave-like songs.
“I enjoyed how everyone came together and random people just started coming up to me and dancing,” Dorothy Talley, freshman in nursing, said.
FNL was originally a carnival until this year when UPB decided to add in a concert to boost attendance.
“I decided to come because I went to it the last two years outside and I wanted to see how they would put it together inside,” Erin Willeford, junior sports and fitness, said.
Even though the weather caused the event to be moved indoors, UPB members were grateful for the good turnout.
“The turnout was amazing considering the horrible weather we were having so I would say the event was a great success,” Bailey Hess, senior in criminal justice and sociology, said.
Members are considering hosting another rave-like event to get more organization and student involvement.
“Since the rave went over so well we might try it again just to see if we can get a bigger crowd when there is nicer weather,” Hess said.
