The Mustangs took advantage of a sloppy Lions’ offense, recovering three fumbles and picking off four of the Lions’ passes, including two touchdown returns (Neiko Conway, 32 yards, and Ricardo Riascos, 12 yards). The Mustangs rushed for 376 yards and five touchdowns on 43 carries, led by Chauncey Harris’ 148 yards and two touchdowns on four carriers. Quarterback Brandon Kelsey completed 13-of-19 passes for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Mustangs (1-1) will travel to Kingsville on Sept. 22 for the team’s next game against the Texas A&M — Kingsville Javelinas.
