The University Singers and Midwestern Singers will hold a fall choral concert on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art.
“I went to their concert last year and it was amazing,” Susan Yovonie, junior in nursing, said.
At the concert, the singers will be performing a wide range of music from Madrigals and Motets to Vocal Jazz. Dr. James Schuppener, professor of music, will be directing them.
“Everyone was really in sync with each other and had a steady rhythm,” Bangalee Dolley, senior in computer science, said.
All of the singers have practice twice a week and they also have rehearsals before they perform at the concert.
“They really bring their music to life when they play,” said Yovonie.
Midwestern Singers are a chamber ensemble who perform a wide variety of music and also have chamber works.
“The concert last year was really great and had a really good mix of music,” said Dolley.
University Singers are a choral ensemble, where they explore and perform choral music from all historical periods in various genres. They also include World Music in their performances.
“All of the singers always work really hard toward the fall concert since it’s their most prominent concert,” said Yovonie.
They learn everything from technique and musicality from the qualities of choral music. In the Fall Choral Concert on Oct. 22, they will perform a few things they have learned from vocal production to choral balance and rhythm.
