Indoor track places second at LSC meet
The indoor track and field team failed to reach its goal of having the most points in the distance races at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lubbock, Feb. 23-24, by three points.
The team tied for second with West Texas A&M, totaling 27 points from the 1-mile, 3,000-meter and 5000-meter and the distance medley relay.
Top finishers for the team were Ashley Flores, who finished third in the 1-mile, Janel Campbell, who took fifth in the 5000-meter and second in the 3000-meter and Michelle and Kim Krezonoski, who placed fifth and sixth respectively in the 3000-meter. The team also picked up a second-place medal in the distance medley relay.
“The DMR was awesome,” Cross Country and Track Head Coach Koby Styles said. “We got second, so to get a medal out of that was pretty cool. One of our legs, Anna Lopez, took our team from fifth all the way to second, and then Ashley Flores did what Ashley Flores does to finish it off for us.”

Despite the high finishes from the women, no one on the team was able to qualify for nationals.
“We were hoping Ashley would, but the race went out too tactical,” Styles said. “Now we have our first outdoor meet on March 16, so it’s back to the drawing board. “
The team’s first outdoor meet will be in Canyon at the West Texas A&M Open.
