“In 2015, other openly gay students on campus were ridiculed by multiple students on an anonymous social media app for their sexual orientations along with the caption, “See a fag, post a fag.””
The main student targeted was me and the experience made realize that MSU still has a long way to go when it comes to social justice. The fact that Kevin Pham, the individual responsible for harassing me, was allowed to graduate after posting that photo on YETI is astounding. Several other institutions would have taken a stronger stance against such an act. Sadly, when it came to my immediate attention that Kevin Pham was going to graduate, I knew the university had failed me and every other LGBT students. The Code of Conduct at MSU is outdated, there is no question about that. If it was not, would they have allowed such a bigoted student to graduate from the Wilson School of Nursing? I even filed a Title XI Complaint against my alma mater with the goal of only wanting the Code of Conduct updated, however; The Office of Civil Rights did not approve my extension.
I have read over Kevin’s apology letter several times over and I still feel as though he was only sorry that he got caught.

My advice to current Mustangs now:
Hold steadfast in your resolve and hold administration accountable.

    Warmest of regards,
